Hi Everyone
After a week of not sticking to my eating goals, I’ve ended up at 130lbs. Up three pounds from last week. I had lots of candy at work, overindulgence at a Passover Seder and out-of-control eating at home after work. Considering my falling off the wagon, I’d have to say that 130lbs isn’t all that bad.
Measurements are the following:
- Waist: 28″
- Hip: 37.5″
- Right Thigh: 21.25″
- Left Thigh: 21.75″
There was clearly something mental going on this past week.
- I’m going to get my period soon, so I typically eat more when I’m pre-menstral
- I only journaled one day this week. On that day, I ate less. On the other days, I was out of control.
- Work has been super stressful lately. We’ve been going through project completion crunch time and I’ve been trying to catch my breath.
- Home is stressful. My husband is going through some job turmoil and uncertainty and when I get home from work, that’s the topic of discussion on top of my daughter’s needs.
- I was sick this past week. My daughter had pink eye and while I didn’t get the pink eye, I did get the cold.
Wow. After seeing the list, I guess I shouldn’t be too hard on myself, but I shouldn’t let myself off that easy either. I clearly need a way to relax to deal with stress. If I can deal with stress more positively, without resorting to stress-eating, then I should be able to better stick to my eating goals.
I remember reading a book about one year ago that dealt with the mental piece of reaching one’s fitness goals. I followed what it prescribed for a little bit, but then I got too comfortable with it, loosened the reins and fell off the wagon. I think, though, I need to re-visit it because when I was following the mental program, I felt so much more relaxed . I was able to tell when I was feeling stressed out, was able to calm myself and re-direct my behavior.
The book is Mind Over Body: The Key to Lasting Weight Loss Is All in Your Head. It’s written by a former Mr. Universe who has a very holistic approach to getting and staying in shape.
Come to think of it, one of the things that Mme. Ronsard stated in her book, Beyond Cellulite: Nicole Ronsard’s Ultimate Strategy to Slim, Firm and Reshape Your Lower Body, is that one of the keys to getting rid of cellulite is to learn to relax so your adrenal system doesn’t overproduce adrenaline, which actually affects the water balance in the body. Stress also impacts digestion, circulation, breathing and elimination – all which must be in balance for optimal cellulite reduction. Stress also releases free-radicals which promote cellulite by inhibiting collagen production and cortisol which promotes fat storage. In any case, it seems like I need to add relaxation techniques to my list of to-do’s, (sounds like a contradiction) since it’s been a recurring theme as I look at past posts.
Thanks for reading!
