Don’t try this at home! It doesn’t work. I did a coffee ground cellulite wrap this morning. My measurements before and after the wrap were the same.
- Waist: 26.5″
- Hips: 37″
- Right Thigh: 21″
- Left Thigh: 21″
I almost didn’t bother taking the after pics, but I did just to finish out the experiment. I’ve put them at the bottom of this post. I didn’t take a picture of me in the plastic wrap – some things are just not meant to be seen!
Here is a summary of what I did…
First I gathered all of my ingredients:
- Lotion
- Bowl
- 1/4 C Measuring Cup
- Coffee
- Old Towel
- Plastic Wrap
- Scissors
I had an old bottle of Avon’s Skin So Soft, so I used that for the lotion. I had brought in some old bike shorts because I thought I would need them to hold everything in place, but didn’t need them.
First I put the towel on the floor because I knew that this might be a messy experiment. I squirted a bunch of the lotion in the bowl and mixed 1/4C of dry coffee grounds into it with my finger.
Before applying it to my skin, I gave myself a good dry brushing first. See link for a dry brushing tutorial:
Then I applied the mixture. I kind of pressed it on. Once I had it all on – both thighs, butt and stomach – I wrapped myself up.
At first, I couldn’t get the hang of wrapping the plastic wrap - it was a bit awkward at first - but after a few tries I ironed out my technique. The plastic clings very well, so I didn’t have any trouble with it sticking. Here’s the best way that I found to do it. First, on each end of the plastic wrap carton, push in the tabs to ‘lock’ the roll in place. I discovered these tabs midway through my wrapping and locking the roll made the wrapping process much easier.
At first I was rolling out a long piece and cutting it with the cutting edge and then wrapping it around. But I soon found out that keeping the roll in the box was much easier and gave me more control. After this discovery, I started wrapping myself with the roll in the box and cutting the wrap once I had a good tight fit. I did my thighs first and then I finished up with around the hips, butt and stomach. I made it snug, but not enough to cut off circulation. The whole wrapping process took about 10 minutes, so not that long and I didn’t even get that much on the floor.
So, now that I was wrapped, I needed to figure out what to do. Walking around was not as difficult as I thought it would be. A little awkward of course, but not impossible. I decided to relax, so I rested on a workout mat in the basement (yes, I went down stairs all wrapped up!) and set an alarm for 30min. I tried to meditate because that’s one of things that I’ve been wanting to do for stress control, so I meditated the best that I could and the last 5 minutes, I was ‘in the zone’. Then the alarm went off.
Up the basement stairs I went and up again to the top floor. I cut the plastic wrap off with the scissors and then got into the shower.
Needless to say, the cleanup was a bit messy in the shower and I recommend that if you do try this at home (despite my warning) get a cup, fill it with water and pour it on yourself to clean yourself off. You have a little more control of where the coffee grounds go. I tried this once I realized that coffee grounds were getting on the wall, the shower curtain, on the shampoos, everywhere. Then I was clean and ran to the toilet. I was in such a hurry to get myself wrapped, that I had forgotten to pee beforehand. I had that rare window of solitude, my husband was out and my daughter was sleeping, so I was racing through the wrapping. In any case, if you do try this at home, please remember to pee first!
In any case, here are the pics. (I’m still having technical difficulties with uploading the pics, but I managed to get a few up):

oh no..I had hoped you saw some type of result. I think I still may try it. Maybe doing it a few times a week may help.

I would try leaving it on a lot longer than that. Maybe even do it before bed and leave it on overnight. You may even need to do it a few times, like maybe once a week for a few weeks. I probably wouldn’t expect it to work if only on for half an hour.
Most cellulite creams that you buy have caffeine in it and if you think that it is a diuretic surely it would reduce some of the retained water on your thighs and help flush out toxins and build up creating cellulite. Another idea would be to disolve the coffee in warm water, soak it up with a towel or bandage and wrap that around your thighs with cling wrap around it, it may soak into your skin a bit better?
